General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-BL5121) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human MASP2, targeting the amino acid region 287–686 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human MASP2 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. MASP2, also known as mannan-binding lectin-associated serine protease 2, is a serine protease encoded by the MASP2 gene located on chromosome 1p36.22 in humans, playing a central role in the lectin pathway of the complement system, a key arm of innate immunity. This protein associates with pattern recognition molecules such as mannose-binding lectin (MBL) or ficolins, which bind to carbohydrates on pathogen surfaces, triggering MASP2 autoactivation and subsequent cleavage of complement components C4 and C2 to form the C3 convertase C4b2a, thereby initiating opsonization, inflammation, and pathogen clearance. Structurally, the full-length MASP2 protein consists of 686 amino acids, processed into A (52 kDa) and B (31 kDa) chains that heterodimerize, featuring modular domains including two CUB (C1r/C1s, Uegf, Bmp1) domains, an EGF-like domain, two complement control protein (CCP) domains, and a trypsin-like serine protease (SP) domain, with the CCP-SP region enabling substrate recognition through electrostatic exosites and catalytic activity at the active site serine (Ser633).
CABT-BL5121 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
CABT-BL5121 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
