Digoxin is a glycoside extracted from the foxglove plant Digitalis lanata. Purification by preparative thin-layer chromatography(TLC).
Bio-activity
1450 units/ml - One unit of activity is defined as the amount of enzyme causing the hydrolysis of one micromole of p-nitrophenyl phosphate per minute of 25 degree C and pH 9.6.
Buffer
8mM Tris, 0.9% NaCI, 0.1% NaN3, 0.1% MgCl2.
Preservative
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Introduction
Digoxin is a beta blocker drug originally derived from the foxglove plant, Digitalis lanata. Digoxin is used primarily to improve the pumping ability of the heart in congestive heart failure (CHF), and treat problems such as high blood pressure. It is also used to help normalize some dysrhythmias (abnormal types of heartbeat).
