General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-BL822) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human CACNG8. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human CACNG8 from mouse. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. CACNG8 (Calcium Voltage-Gated Channel Auxiliary Subunit Gamma 8) encodes a member of the claudin-like gamma subunit family of voltage-gated calcium channel (VGCC) auxiliary proteins. It is primarily expressed in the central nervous system, where it associates with AMPA-type glutamate receptors rather than directly forming calcium channels. CACNG8 functions as a transmembrane regulatory subunit that modulates trafficking, synaptic localization, and gating properties of AMPA receptors, thereby influencing excitatory synaptic transmission. By controlling receptor insertion and stability at the postsynaptic membrane, CACNG8 plays an important role in synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory. It contributes to the fine-tuning of neuronal excitability and is involved in activity-dependent regulation of synaptic strength. Dysregulation of CACNG8 or related TARPs (transmembrane AMPA receptor regulatory proteins) has been implicated in neurological disorders, including epilepsy and cognitive dysfunction, due to altered glutamatergic signaling.
CABT-BL822 is suitable for use in IHC (1:50–1:500) application.
CABT-BL822 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
