General Description
Apple mosaic virus (ApMV) is a small, isometric, RNA virus which is mainly spread by grafting propagation of host plants. The virus is easily transmitted by mechanical inoculation among herbaceous hosts although it is difficult to transmit from woody to herbaceous plants. ApMV causes a variety of leaf symptoms and reductions in fruit yield of varying severity in apple. Typical symptoms of ApMV infection in rose is leaf mosaic. Other symptoms include line patterns, ringspots, and mottle in infected rose leaves. A good indexing program is the most effective method to control the viral infection.
