Product Background
Antigen Description
The evolutionarily conserved WNT (Wingless-type MMTV integration site family) signaling pathway has diverse roles in governing cell fate, proliferation, migration, polarity and death. WNT signaling controls development and is important for embryogenesis and carcinogenesis.1-3 During tumorigenesis the WNT signaling pathway has a central role, and inappropriate activation of this pathway is observed in several human cancers, including colon carcinoma, melanoma, and ovarian cancer.4 WNT4 is a secreted glycoprotein that is critical for genitourinary development, and also has a role in the pathogenesis of renal fibrosis.5 WNT4 is also involved with the regulation of cyclin D1 transcrIPPtion, the regeneration of renal tubules in acute renal failure (ARF) Its overexpression disrupts normal testicular vasculature and inhibits testosterone synthesis by repressing steroidogenic factor 1/beta-catenin synergy.6-7 Overexpression may be associated with abnormal proliferation in human breast tissue.8
