General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-16318) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human STAU1, targeting the amino acid region 172–355 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. STAU1 is a human gene that encodes Staufen homolog 1, a multifunctional double-stranded RNA-binding protein (RBP) critical for regulating RNA metabolism in eukaryotic cells. The STAU1 gene is located on chromosome 20q13.13, spanning approximately 106 kb with 21 exons, and produces multiple isoforms through alternative splicing, with the predominant forms being STAU155 and STAU163. These isoforms feature five double-stranded RNA-binding domains (dsRBDs), a tubulin-binding domain (TBD) for microtubule association, and a Staufen-swapping motif (SSM) that facilitates protein dimerization and mRNA binding. STAU1 binds structured RNA elements, such as stem-loops or inverted Alu repeats in mRNA untranslated regions (UTRs), enabling its roles in mRNA splicing, nuclear export, cytoplasmic transport along cytoskeletal elements, translational control, and decay via the Staufen-mediated mRNA decay (SMD) pathway, where it recruits the helicase UPF1 to degrade target transcripts. Expressed ubiquitously across tissues, STAU1 localizes to the rough endoplasmic reticulum, stress granules, and transport ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes, influencing diverse cellular processes including polarity establishment, cell cycle progression, differentiation, migration, apoptosis, autophagy, and stress responses.
DPABH-16318 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-16318 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
