MIEF1 (mitochondrial elongation factor 1) is a protein-coding gene. An important paralog of this gene is MIEF2. Mitochondrial outer membrane protein which regulates mitochondrial morphology. Mitochondrial morphology is controlled by two opposites processes: fusion and fission. Seems to have a key role in inhibiting DNM1L-induced mitochondrial fission.
