General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-20058) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human SLFN13. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Schlafen family member 13 (SLFN13) is a cytoplasmic endoribonuclease encoded by the human SLFN13 gene on chromosome 17q12, belonging to the Schlafen (SLFN) family of proteins that regulate cell growth, immune responses, and translational control through RNA cleavage. The SLFN family comprises six human members characterized by a conserved N-terminal AAA-ATPase-like domain and, in longer variants like SLFN13, C-terminal extensions resembling DNA/RNA helicase motifs, with the family evolving rapidly across mammals to influence processes such as thymocyte development and myelopoiesis. SLFN13 specifically functions as an RNase (termed RNase S13) that targets mature transfer RNAs (tRNAs) and ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), cleaving tRNAs 11 nucleotides from the 3'-terminus at the acceptor stem in a magnesium-dependent manner, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and disrupting translational machinery under stress conditions. Its crystal structure reveals a unique pseudo-dimeric U-pillow-shaped N-terminal domain that clamps base-paired RNA substrates within a positively charged valley, distinguishing it as a novel class of eukaryotic RNase distinct from bacterial homologs like RNase E.
DPABH-20058 is suitable for use in IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500), IHC 1 (50-1:200) applications.
DPABH-20058 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
