General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-23630) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human RPS17. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with RPS17 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. 40S ribosomal protein S17 (RPS17), also known as eS17, is a highly conserved protein that forms a core component of the eukaryotic 40S small ribosomal subunit, playing a crucial role in the initiation and elongation phases of protein synthesis by facilitating the decoding of messenger RNA (mRNA) codons. Encoded by the RPS17 gene on human chromosome 15q25.2, this 135-amino-acid protein belongs to the S17E family of ribosomal proteins and is essential for the proper assembly and stability of the 40S subunit. Mutations in RPS17, such as nonsense and frameshift variants, disrupt ribosome biogenesis and are a known cause of Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) type 4, inherited in an autosomal dominant manner; this rare congenital erythroid aplasia is characterized by severe anemia, bone marrow failure, and increased cancer risk, accounting for approximately 1-3% of DBA cases. Beyond its ribosomal function, RPS17 has been implicated in additional cellular processes, including nucleolar organization and potential roles in tumor suppression, though these are less well-characterized.
DPABH-23630 is suitable for use in WB 1 (1000-3000) application.
DPABH-23630 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
