Product Background

Gene summary
PTP4A1 (Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Type IVA, Member 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are PAK Pathway and Signaling events mediated by PRL. GO annotations related to this gene include phosphatase activity and protein tyrosine/serine/threonine phosphatase activity. An important paralog of this gene is PTP4A3. This gene encodes a member of a small class of prenylated protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), which contain a PTP domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. The encoded protein is a cell signaling molecule that plays regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes, including cell proliferation and migration. The protein may also be involved in cancer development and metastasis. This tyrosine phosphatase is a nuclear protein, but may associate with plasma membrane by means of its prenylation motif. Pseudogenes related to this gene are located on chromosomes 1, 2, 5, 7, 11 and X.
Antigen Description
Protein tyrosine phosphatase which stimulates progression from G1 into S phase during mitosis. May play a role in the development and maintenance of differentiating epithelial tissues. Enhances cell proliferation, cell motility and invasive activity, and promotes cancer metastasis. Protein tyrosine phosphatase type IVA 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PTP4A1 gene. 0The function about PTP4A1 antigen include hydrolase activity; protein tyrosine phosphatase activity.
Pathway
Signaling events mediated by PRL, organism-specific biosystem.
