General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-16670) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human PRDX2, targeting the amino acid region 6–164 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human PRDX2 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Peroxiredoxin 2 (PRDX2), also known as natural killer-enhancing factor B (NKEF-B) or thiol-specific antioxidant protein (TSA), is a member of the typical 2-Cys peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively, using thioredoxin as the primary electron donor. Encoded by the PRDX2 gene on human chromosome 19p13.2, it plays a pivotal role in protecting cells from oxidative stress by detoxifying reactive oxygen species (ROS), sensing H₂O₂-mediated signaling events, and regulating intracellular peroxide concentrations in response to growth factors and inflammatory cytokines like tumor necrosis factor-alpha. In human erythrocytes, where it is the third most abundant protein at approximately 0.24 mM concentration, PRDX2 acts as the primary scavenger of physiological H₂O₂ fluxes derived from hemoglobin autoxidation, handling 55–60% of endogenous peroxide load and preventing methemoglobin formation, lipid peroxidation, and heme degradation.
DPABH-16670 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-16670 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
