General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-02199) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human PMPCA, targeting the amino acid region 176–525 of the protein. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. PMPCA (Peptidase, Mitochondrial Processing Subunit Alpha; also known as MPPA) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9q34.13 in humans that encodes the α-subunit of the mitochondrial processing peptidase (MPP), a heterodimeric metalloprotease enzyme essential for mitochondrial protein maturation. This enzyme, formed by the α-subunit (encoded by PMPCA) and the β-subunit (encoded by PMPCB), resides in the mitochondrial matrix and catalyzes the cleavage of N-terminal mitochondrial targeting presequences from nuclear-encoded precursor proteins after their import into mitochondria, enabling proper folding and assembly of these proteins into functional complexes. The process is critical for mitochondrial biogenesis and energy production, as MPP activity ensures the efficient processing of the majority of the approximately 1,500 nuclear-encoded mitochondrial proteins.
DPABH-02199 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:500–1:2,000), IP (0.5-4.0 μg for 1.0-3.0 mg of total protein lysate), IF/ICC (1:50–1:500) applications.
DPABH-02199 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
