General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-01039) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR7C1. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR7C1 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 7C1, a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor belonging to the largest multigene family in the genome, which is primarily involved in the detection of odorant molecules within the nasal cavity to initiate olfactory signal transduction and smell perception. Located on the short arm of chromosome 19 at position 19p13.12 (GRCh38: 14,798,515-14,835,185, complement strand), the gene spans approximately 37 kb and consists of 5 exons, with orthologs identified in other vertebrates. The encoded protein features a characteristic structure of class A/1 G protein-coupled receptors, enabling interaction with odorants to activate downstream G protein-mediated pathways in olfactory sensory neurons. While OR7C1 expression is low across most fetal and adult tissues (e.g., RPKM values of 0.00-0.30 in adrenal, heart, intestine, kidney, lung, and stomach), RNA-level data indicate tissue-enhanced expression, particularly in the parathyroid gland, with detection in endocrine tissues, brain regions, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, and male reproductive tissues such as the testis. Beyond olfaction, OR7C1 has emerged as a notable cancer/testis antigen, with upregulated expression in cancer stem cells (CSCs) of oral squamous cell carcinoma (observed in 57.5% of 259 TCGA cases via FPKM-UQ metrics), where it contributes to CSC maintenance, including stemness marker expression (e.g., SOX2, Nanog), sphere formation, and resistance to cisplatin. Knockdown studies in oral cancer cell lines (HSC-2, HSC-3) demonstrate that OR7C1 inhibition reduces CSC properties, positioning it as a potential immunotherapy target; HLA-A24-restricted peptides from OR7C1 induce cytotoxic T lymphocytes that selectively lyse OR7C1-expressing CSCs without affecting non-CSCs. Elevated expression is also reported in other malignancies, such as colon, breast, and cervical cancers, relative to normal tissues. No direct associations with non-cancer diseases have been established.
DPABH-01039 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-01039 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
