General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24347) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR6C2. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with OR6C2 from mouse. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR6C2 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily C member 2 (OR6C2), a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium of the nasal cavity. This receptor belongs to the large superfamily of olfactory receptors, which detect and respond to odorant molecules to initiate sensory signaling in the perception of smell. The OR6C2 gene spans approximately 9.3 kilobases on the forward strand of chromosome 12 at position 55,444,069-55,453,347 (GRCh38 assembly) and produces two transcript variants, with the canonical isoform yielding a 312-amino-acid protein. Like other olfactory receptors, OR6C2 features characteristic domains including an N-terminal signal peptide, seven hydrophobic transmembrane helices, and a C-terminal region, enabling it to bind volatile odorants and activate downstream G protein signaling pathways such as Gs-mediated adenylate cyclase stimulation. The gene has 69 orthologs across vertebrates and 18 paralogs within the human genome, reflecting the evolutionary expansion of the olfactory receptor repertoire for diverse chemosensory functions. While specific activating odorants for OR6C2 remain to be fully characterized, its role aligns with the broader olfactory signaling pathway that transduces chemical stimuli into neural impulses for odor discrimination.
DPABH-24347 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
