General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-05599) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR5W2. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR5W2 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes the olfactory receptor 5W2, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) belonging to the largest gene superfamily in the genome, responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate neuronal responses and enable the perception of smell. Located on the reverse strand of chromosome 11q12.1 (GRCh38: 55,913,650-55,914,582), the gene spans 933 base pairs and consists of a single exon, producing a 310-amino-acid protein with a molecular mass of 35,167 Da and seven transmembrane domains characteristic of the rhodopsin-like GPCR family. The OR5W2 protein functions by binding specific odorants, activating G proteins to transduce signals through pathways involved in sensory perception of chemical stimuli, and it is predicted to participate in odorant binding and olfactory receptor activity. As part of olfactory receptor subfamily W, it likely recognizes structurally related odorants, contributing to the diversity of smell detection across the approximately 400 functional human olfactory receptor genes clustered in 51 loci on 21 chromosomes. Expression of OR5W2 is primarily inferred in olfactory epithelium, though data indicate presence in male germline stem cells of the testis, colonic epithelium, and monocytes, highlighting potential non-olfactory roles.
DPABH-05599 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-05599 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
