General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-10891) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR51G1. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with OR51G1 from rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR51G1 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 51G1, a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) expressed in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where it binds odorant molecules to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of smell. The OR51G1 gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 11 at position 11p15.4, spanning approximately 965 base pairs with a single exon, and it belongs to the large superfamily of over 800 olfactory receptor genes in the human genome, which collectively form the basis of olfactory signaling. Unlike most olfactory receptor genes, OR51G1 is classified as a segregating pseudogene due to genetic polymorphisms that result in both functional protein-coding alleles and non-functional alleles in human populations, leading to individual variation in the olfactory receptor repertoire and potentially influencing odor detection sensitivity. This variability has been studied in the context of personalized olfaction, highlighting how such polymorphisms contribute to differences in smell perception across individuals.
DPABH-10891 is suitable for use in WB 1 (1000-3000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-10891 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
