This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24296) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR51B5. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR51B5 (Olfactory Receptor Family 51 Subfamily B Member 5) is a human protein-coding gene that encodes an olfactory receptor belonging to the G protein–coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. It is predicted to possess the canonical seven-transmembrane domain architecture characteristic of olfactory receptors and is primarily expressed in olfactory sensory neurons within the nasal epithelium. OR51B5 participates in odor detection by binding specific volatile odorant molecules and initiating intracellular signaling through olfactory G proteins (such as Golf), leading to cAMP-mediated neuronal activation and contributing to the perception of smell. As with many members of the human olfactory receptor family, the precise ligand specificity and detailed functional properties of OR51B5 remain largely uncharacterized.
