General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-01180) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR4C15. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR4C15 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 4C15, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) belonging to the largest multigene family in the genome, which consists of approximately 850 olfactory receptor genes (including pseudogenes) responsible for odorant detection. This receptor features a seven-transmembrane domain structure typical of GPCRs and functions to recognize and transduce odorant signals via interaction with heterotrimeric G proteins, initiating a neuronal response in the olfactory epithelium to facilitate smell perception. Located on the plus strand of chromosome 11 at position 55,554,469-55,555,419 (GRCh38.p14 assembly), the gene spans a single exon, a common characteristic of olfactory receptor genes. Olfactory receptors like OR4C15 are expressed primarily in the nasal cavity's olfactory sensory neurons, where they contribute to the diverse repertoire of scent detection, with each neuron typically expressing one receptor type to enable precise odor coding. The human olfactory receptor family, including OR4C15, has been extensively characterized as part of efforts to map the genetic basis of olfaction, revealing evolutionary conservation and variations across species. While no specific diseases are directly linked to OR4C15 mutations in current databases, variants in olfactory receptor genes broadly influence individual differences in odor perception.
DPABH-01180 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-01180 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
