General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-08667) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR4C13. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR4C13 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 4C13, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) belonging to the rhodopsin-like family, which detects odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate olfactory signal transduction. The gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 11 at cytogenetic band 11p11.12, spanning approximately 1,029 base pairs on the forward strand from position 49,952,391 to 49,953,419 (GRCh38/hg38 assembly). Olfactory receptor 4C13, also known by aliases such as OR4CD and OR11-260, features a seven-transmembrane domain structure typical of GPCRs and is annotated with functions including G protein-coupled receptor activity, olfactory receptor activity, and involvement in transmembrane signaling. It participates in key biological pathways such as the olfactory signaling pathway, which encompasses odorant recognition, G protein activation, and sensory perception of smell. The encoded protein consists of 309 amino acids with a molecular mass of 34,582 Da and undergoes post-translational modifications like N-linked glycosylation at asparagine residues 6 and 87. Expression of OR4C13 has been detected in specific tissues, including male germ line stem cells in the testis and the prefrontal cortex, based on transcriptomic and proteomic data from sources like GTEx and Bgee. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have linked genetic variations in OR4C13 to traits such as bone mineral density, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, hypertension, and alcohol consumption patterns, though no direct causal associations with specific diseases have been established. The gene is part of the largest human gene superfamily, with over 850 olfactory receptor genes and pseudogenes clustered across chromosomes, and it shares high paralogy with related genes like OR4C46. Sequence variations, including 43 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and 13 copy number variations (CNVs), have been identified, many of uncertain clinical significance, with the gene showing high intolerance to loss-of-function mutations (Residual Variation Intolerance Score of 90.9%).
DPABH-08667 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
