General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-08607) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR2W3. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with OR2W3 from mouse. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR2W3 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 2W3, a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor belonging to the largest gene family in the genome, primarily functioning to detect odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate neuronal responses for smell perception. The OR2W3 gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 1 at position 1q44 (GRCh38 coordinates: 247,895,587-247,896,531) and consists of a single exon spanning 945 base pairs, which translates into a 314-amino-acid protein. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2W3 features a characteristic structure with an extracellular N-terminus, seven transmembrane helices, and an intracellular C-terminus that couples to G proteins for signal transduction. Beyond its role in olfaction, OR2W3 is ectopically expressed in various non-olfactory tissues, including the thyroid (highest expression), lung, testis, and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells derived from human embryonic stem cells. In airway smooth muscle, OR2W3 activation by specific odorants promotes bronchodilation through a cooperative mechanism involving the chloride channels TMEM16A and CFTR, suggesting a chemosensory role in respiratory regulation.
DPABH-08607 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-08607 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
