General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-21673) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR2G6. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR2G6 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes the olfactory receptor 2G6, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal cavity to initiate the perception of smell. This gene belongs to the largest family in the human genome, the olfactory receptor gene family, which comprises approximately 400 functional genes organized into subfamilies based on sequence similarity. OR2G6 specifically falls under subfamily G of family 2 and produces a 316-amino-acid protein with a characteristic seven-transmembrane domain structure typical of class A GPCRs, enabling it to transduce odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways. Located on the long arm of chromosome 1 at cytogenetic band q44 (genomic coordinates: 248,508,073–248,527,337 on the forward strand in GRCh38), it consists of two exons and is expressed primarily in olfactory sensory neurons. The protein's function involves binding volatile odorants, activating downstream signaling cascades that lead to neuronal depolarization and odor discrimination, contributing to the human sense of smell's complexity. While most olfactory receptors like OR2G6 are tuned to specific odor ligands, their exact tuning profiles remain under investigation, with OR2G6 implicated in general olfactory transduction rather than unique sensory roles. No direct associations with human diseases have been established for OR2G6 in major databases, though variations in olfactory receptor genes broadly influence olfaction-related traits such as odor sensitivity.
DPABH-21673 is suitable for use in WB 1 (1000-3000) application.
DPABH-21673 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
