General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24202) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR2D2. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with OR2D2 from rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR2D2 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily D member 2, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) with seven transmembrane domains involved in odorant detection and the initiation of smell perception. This receptor interacts with odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to trigger neuronal responses via G protein signaling, contributing to the discrimination of scents as part of the largest multigene family in the human genome. The gene consists of a single exon and produces a 308-amino-acid protein, with no reported alternative splicing variants in its validated reference sequence. Located on the short arm of chromosome 11 at cytogenetic band 11p15.4 (genomic coordinates: 6,891,574–6,892,500 on the reverse strand, GRCh38 assembly), OR2D2 resides in a cluster of olfactory receptor genes, reflecting the genomic organization typical of this superfamily. The gene's structure and evolutionary conservation highlight its role in olfaction, with orthologs identified in other mammals such as mice (where it is known as Olfr715). Aliases for OR2D2 include OR2D1, OR11-610, and hg27, stemming from early mapping efforts and sequence similarities. While olfactory receptors like OR2D2 are pseudogenized in some species, the human version remains functional, underscoring its importance in sensory physiology. Research has focused on the genomic clustering and evolution of such genes, with OR2D2 mapped as part of broader studies on chromosome 11's olfactory repertoire. No specific disease associations have been firmly established for OR2D2 mutations, though disruptions in olfactory receptor signaling broadly impact anosmia and related disorders.
DPABH-24202 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:2000), ELISA 1 (20000-1:40000) applications.
DPABH-24202 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
