General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-06031) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR11A1. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with OR11A1 from rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR11A1 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes olfactory receptor 11A1, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal cavity to initiate the perception of smell. This receptor belongs to the largest multigene family in the genome, consisting of over 900 olfactory receptor genes, and features a seven-transmembrane domain structure typical of GPCRs. Located on the short arm of chromosome 6 at position 6p22.1, the gene spans approximately 31.6 kb and contains a single coding exon. The canonical OR11A1 protein isoform, comprising 315 amino acids, functions as an odorant receptor by binding specific odor molecules, activating G proteins, and triggering intracellular signaling cascades that transmit olfactory signals to the brain. It has been experimentally shown to respond to geosmin, a sesquiterpenoid produced by microorganisms and associated with earthy or musty odors in spoiled food and water. OR11A1 is primarily expressed in the olfactory epithelium of the nasal mucosa, where it contributes to the diverse repertoire of smell detection. As part of the class A rhodopsin-like GPCR subfamily, OR11A1 shares structural similarities with other olfactory receptors, including conserved motifs for odorant binding and signal transduction.
DPABH-06031 is suitable for use in WB 1 (1000-3000) application.
