General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-08666) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR10Z1. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR10Z1 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor 1 family, specifically the olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily Z member 1, which plays a role in the detection of odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium. Located on the forward strand of chromosome 1 at position 158,605,268-158,612,514, the gene spans approximately 7.2 kilobases and consists of two exons, one of which is coding, encoding a 313-amino-acid protein. This receptor interacts with odorants to initiate a neuronal response via the olfactory signaling pathway, contributing to the perception of smell by activating downstream cyclic nucleotide-gated channels and calcium signaling in olfactory sensory neurons. It has been implicated in responding to androstenone derivatives. The OR10Z1 protein features the characteristic seven transmembrane domains of olfactory receptors and is predicted to couple with Golf (G_olf) proteins to stimulate adenylyl cyclase upon ligand binding, leading to increased intracellular cAMP levels. Expression of OR10Z1 is detected at low levels in various tissues including the olfactory epithelium and testis, consistent with its predicted role in olfaction. As one of over 400 functional olfactory receptor genes in the human genome, OR10Z1 exemplifies the large, diverse repertoire evolved for broad odor discrimination.
DPABH-08666 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
