General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-03122) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR10Q1. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR10Q1, officially designated as olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily Q member 1, is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, specifically within the olfactory receptor family—the largest gene family in the human genome, comprising over 400 functional genes. This receptor protein interacts with odorant molecules in the nasal cavity to initiate a neuronal response, triggering the perception of smell through G protein-mediated signal transduction. The OR10Q1 gene is located on the reverse strand of chromosome 11 at cytogenetic band 11q12.1, with genomic coordinates spanning 58,227,882 to 58,228,918 in the GRCh38.p14 assembly. It consists of a single coding exon, a characteristic feature of many olfactory receptor genes, and produces a transcript annotated as ENST00000316770.3, which translates to a 319-amino-acid protein with a seven-transmembrane domain structure typical of rhodopsin-like GPCRs. Olfactory receptors like OR10Q1 are expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where they function to recognize and bind specific odorants, activating downstream signaling cascades involving adenylate cyclase and cyclic AMP to depolarize sensory neurons. Transcriptomic analyses, however, indicate that OR10Q1 RNA expression is not detected or is at very low levels across a broad range of surveyed human tissues, including brain regions, endocrine glands, gastrointestinal organs, reproductive tissues, and immune cells, consistent with the specialized role of olfactory receptors. The gene has aliases such as OR11-233 and is orthologous to similar olfactory receptor genes in other mammals, reflecting evolutionary conservation of olfaction mechanisms.
DPABH-03122 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:2000), IHC 1 (50-1:200) applications.
