General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-24179) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR10A6. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR10A6 is a segregating pseudogene in humans that can encode the olfactory receptor 10A6, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) belonging to the rhodopsin-like family of odorant receptors, which interact with odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate neuronal responses for smell perception. Some alleles are functional and protein-coding, while others are pseudogenes. Located on the long arm of chromosome 11 at position 11q11.2, the gene spans approximately 6.7 kilobases, with a coding sequence of approximately 942 base pairs that produces a 314-amino-acid protein with seven transmembrane domains characteristic of GPCRs. Beyond its primary role in olfaction, OR10A6 exhibits expression in human skin, particularly in the basal layer of the epidermis, where it may contribute to epidermal differentiation processes as part of broader gene networks involved in skin barrier function. Notably, functional studies have demonstrated that OR10A6 is selectively tuned to the (Z)-4-undecenal (Z4-11Al) pheromone produced by the commensal fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, highlighting its potential responsiveness to environmental chemical cues beyond typical human odors. This receptor's dual expression patterns and ligand specificity underscore its multifaceted role in sensory biology, with implications for understanding human chemosensation and possible non-olfactory functions.
DPABH-24179 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:1000), IF/ICC 1 (100-1:500) applications.
DPABH-24179 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
