General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-28517) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human MLC1, targeting the amino acid region 325–377 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human MLC1 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. MLC1 (Megalencephalic Leukoencephalopathy with Subcortical Cysts 1) is a membrane protein predominantly expressed in astrocytes within the central nervous system. It is localized to astrocyte endfeet at the blood–brain barrier and is thought to play a critical role in maintaining ion and water homeostasis in the brain. MLC1 interacts with other membrane and scaffolding proteins, such as the ClC-2 chloride channel and GlialCAM (HEPACAM), contributing to the regulation of cell volume and interstitial fluid balance. Mutations in MLC1 are associated with megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts (MLC), a rare neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by brain white matter abnormalities, macrocephaly, and progressive motor dysfunction. Although its precise molecular mechanism is not fully understood, MLC1 is considered essential for astrocyte-mediated maintenance of brain fluid and structural homeostasis.
DPABH-28517 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000), IF/ICC (1:50–1:500) applications.
DPABH-28517 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS with 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, pH 7.3. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
