Antigen Description
Ricin chain B (RTB) is a galactose/N-acetylgalactosamine-binding lectin with a molecular mass of 34kDa. RTB is normally linked by a disulfide bond to a ribosome inactivating enzyme (32kDa), also called the A chain or RTA. Together with RTA, RTB constitutes the heterodimeric cytotoxin Ricin (RCA 60) from Ricinus communis. This ricin, which is a type 2 RIP (ribosome-inactivating protein) is among the most potent cytotoxins in nature.
