EXOSC8 (exosome component 8) is a component of the exosome 3->5 exoribonuclease complex. This complex degrades inherently unstable mRNAs containing AU-rich elements (AREs) within their 3 untranslated regions. EXOSC8 is required for the 3 processing of the 7S pre-RNA to the mature 5.8S rRNA and also has a 3-5 exonuclease activity.
Pathway
Activation of Genes by ATF4; Deadenylation-dependent mRNA decay; Destabilization of mRNA by Butyrate Response Factor 1 (BRF1); Destabilization of mRNA by KSRP; Destabilization of mRNA by Tristetraprolin (TTP); Diabetes pathways; Disease.
