A 3-layer substrate integrated folded magnetoelectric dipole antenna is presented in this paper. The folded metal vias are proposed to broaden bandwidth and miniaturized antenna. Furthermore, the double-arc-edged patch, the single-arc-edged metal plane, side wall and removing shorted end are designed to improve the impedance matching and reduce the operating frequencies. The structure and parameters of the antenna are analyzed, especially the bandwidth blending and the current paths. A prototype was fabricated and measured. The presented antenna obtains a wide impedance bandwidth of 34.2% for VSWR <= 2 from 4.88 to 6.89 GHz and a stable gain ranging from 6.0 to 7.5 dBi. Moreover, nearly identical unidirectional radiation patterns, low cross-polarization and low back radiation are achieved. The parameter ofd(s)even can realize a lower operating frequency. The presented antenna is suitable for mass production with low cost by the printed circuit board technology, and promising for 5th Generation (5G) applications.

A single-feed circularly polarised (CP) composite microstrip patch antenna (MPA) with a 3D conical ground plane at X-band is presented here to meet the requirements of wide beamwidth for on-board antenna structures of highly rotating bodies in projectile motion. The results of the measurement for fabricated antenna in the anechoic chamber show that a half power beamwidth >120 degrees and axial ratio (AR) beamwidth >100 degrees are achieved for right-hand CP radiation pattern in both the xoz and yoz planes with a gain of similar to 2 dBi. The AR at the resonating frequency of 10.28 GHz has a low figure of 0.46 dB producing nearly smooth CP foot print with a wide AR beamwidth. The measured reflection coefficient (S-11) of CP-MPA is,<-15 dB at 10.28 GHz with an impedance bandwidth that is 8.75% of the resonant frequency. The figure of merit for cross-polarisation in the fabrication is similar to 18 dB, i.e. achieved at the zenith of co-polarisation.
