Product Background

Gene summary
CLDN7 (Claudin 7) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CLDN7 include ductal carcinoma in situ and prostate transitional cell carcinoma. Among its related pathways are Sertoli-Sertoli Cell Junction Dynamics and Blood-Brain Barrier and Immune Cell Transmigration: Pathways Overview. GO annotations related to this gene include identical protein binding and structural molecule activity. An important paralog of this gene is CLDN9. This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and also play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transductions. Differential expression of this gene has been observed in different types of malignancies, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, hepatocellular carcinomas, urinary tumors, prostate cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, thyroid carcinomas, etc. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found.
Antigen Description
Claudins, such as CLDN7, are involved in the formation of tight junctions between epithelial cells. Tight junctions restrict lateral diffusion of lipids and membrane proteins, and thereby physically define the border between the apical and basolateral compartments of epithelial cells (Zheng et al. , 2003 [PubMed 14502431]). Plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space. Claudin-7 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CLDN7 gene. It belongs to the group of claudins. 0The function about CLDN7 antigen include identical protein binding; protein binding; structural molecule activity.
