General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-09523) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human CALU, targeting the amino acid region 20–315 of the protein. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with Human CALU from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. Calumenin is a calcium-binding protein encoded by the CALU gene in humans, primarily localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) where it contributes to essential cellular processes such as protein folding, sorting, and maintenance of ER calcium homeostasis. Belonging to the CREC family of multiple EF-hand proteins—which includes reticulocalbin, ERC-55, and Cab45—calumenin features six EF-hand motifs that enable its calcium-binding capacity, though not all are functional for high-affinity binding. Structurally, it is a soluble protein retained in the ER lumen via a C-terminal HDEF retrieval signal, and it is also detected in the Golgi apparatus, extracellular space, and sarcoplasmic reticulum. Calumenin modulates the activity of sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca²⁺-ATPase (SERCA) pumps without significantly altering overall ER Ca²⁺ levels, and it interacts with proteins like the vitamin K-dependent gamma-carboxylase (GGCX) to regulate carboxylation of glutamate residues in coagulation factors. Additionally, it has been implicated in suppressing cell migration and tumor metastasis, potentially through interactions with extracellular matrix components.
DPABH-09523 is suitable for use in ELISA (1:4,000–1:8,000), IHC (1:50–1:100), Western blot (WB) (1:1,000–1:4,000) applications.
DPABH-09523 is supplied as a liquid formulation in 0.01M PBS, pH 7.4, 50% Glycerol, 0.05% Proclin 300. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
