Cell Line Description
The hybridoma was generated by fusion of splenocytes from a BALB/c mouse that had been immunized with big brown bat splenocytes. The resulting hybridomas were plated in methylcellulose and subsequently subcloned in liquid culture. The hybridoma produces a mouse anti-bat Ig Light chain monoclonal antibody. It can bind to B cells and serum immunoglobulin by virtue of specificity for Ig Light Chain.
It has no reactivity against Ig from megachiroptera
Growth Properties

Culture Method

Complete Growth Medium
RPMI-1640, with 50 uM 2-mercaptoethanol and 2mM glutamine, supplemented with 10% FBS,100 U/ml penicillin and 100 ug/ml streptomycin
Liquid nitrogen vapor phase
Freezing medium: to FBS, add 10%(v/v) DMSO.


The immunoglobulin light chain is the small polypeptide subunit of an antibody (immunoglobulin). A typical antibody is composed of two immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy chains and two Ig light chains.Only one type of light chain is present in a typical antibody, thus the two light chains of an individual antibody are identical.Each light chain is composed of two tandem immunoglobulin domains: one constant (CL) domain and one variable domain (VL) that is important for binding antigen.
