Noroviruses (NoV) are the leading cause of non-bacterial gastroenteritis worldwide, resulting in high morbidity and mortality rates. NoV causes rapid and self-limited acute gastroenteritis, characterized by symptoms such as vomiting, watery diarrhea (with or without nausea), and abdominal cramps. These viruses are highly contagious and can be found in contaminated food, water, or on surfaces.
NoV belongs to the family Caliciviridae, specifically to the genus Norovirus, which has recently been subdivided into 10 different genogroups (GI–GX), each with distinct genotypes. Only GI, GII, and GIV infect humans and cause acute gastroenteritis. These genogroups are classified based on the similarity of the highly conserved regions of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp-NS7) or the conserved amino acid regions of the capsid protein, VP1. The VP1 protein, a major capsid protein, plays a crucial role in immune response and receptor binding, making it a key target for antigen detection and vaccine development.

Creative Diagnostics is proud to offer the comprehensive Norovirus VP1 VLP Panel (#DAG-WT5415), which includes 14 distinct VP1 VLPs from various genogroups and genotypes, including GI.1, GI.5, GI.6, GI.7, GI.8, GII.1, GII.2, GII.3, GII.4, GII.6, GII.7, GII.12, GII.13, and GII.17. Each protein in our panel is available in a quantity of 50 μg. Additionally, each serotype-specific VP1 protein is available for individual purchase in quantities of 0.5 mg.
Our NoV recombinant proteins are produced using a baculovirus expression system, ensuring the proteins closely resemble their natural counterparts. We do not introduce any foreign sequences, guaranteeing the authenticity of our products. The proteins are purified using cesium chloride density gradient centrifugation, a method that yields high-purity proteins. Transmission electron microscopy confirms the morphology of the target proteins, ensuring excellent activity and specificity.
