Dynein axonemal intermediate chain 1 belongs to the dynein intermediate chain family. It contains seven WD repeats. The intermediate chains seem to help dynein bind to dynactin 150 kDa component. It may play a role in mediating the interaction of cytoplasmic dynein with membranous organelles and kinetochores. There are three named isoforms.
