Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose.
Storage
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Introduction
Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxin Type G (SEG) is a superantigenic toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus strain N315. Like classical enterotoxins (e.g., SEA-SEE), SEG binds to MHC class II molecules and T-cell receptors, triggering uncontrolled T-cell activation and massive cytokine release (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6), which can lead to toxic shock syndrome or food poisoning. While all staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs) exhibit superantigenic properties, only some (including SEG) are confirmed to be emetic, posing a direct risk to human health. Though less prevalent than classical types (SEA-SEE), SEG is increasingly studied due to its role in antimicrobial-resistant strains and potential use in recombinant toxin research.
