Rat β-Amyloid (1-42) is a 42-amino-acid fragment derived from the amyloid precursor protein (APP). It readily self-aggregates into oligomers and fibrils, with the oligomeric form being the most neurotoxic. These aggregates contribute to amyloid plaque formation—a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease—disrupting cellular function, impairing mitochondrial activity, and promoting neuronal cell death via oxidative stress, calcium dysregulation, and inflammatory pathways.
