General Description
TRAP1 encodes TNF receptor-associated protein 1, a mitochondrial member of the Hsp90 chaperone family (often called Hsp75) that protects mitochondria from stress, regulates metabolism, and limits apoptosis. It is frequently overexpressed in tumors, where it supports survival under oxidative and metabolic stress. Its tumor-selective upregulation and immunogenic chaperone function make TRAP1 a candidate diagnostic/prognostic marker and a vaccine/immunotherapy target in oncology.
