General Description
Follicle-stimulating hormone is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, and together with luteinizing hormone, it is collectively referred to as gonadotropin. Structurally, it consists of two subunits,αandβ. Theα subunit is the same as LH and HCG, while theβ subunit determines its unique biological activity. The core function of FSH is to regulate the reproductive process in vertebrates: in females, it directly acts on the ovaries, stimulating the growth, development, and maturation of follicles, and coordinating the synthesis of estrogen; in males, it mainly targets the supporting cells of the testes, promoting the synthesis of various proteins necessary for sperm production. Therefore, FSH plays an indispensable role in the development of gonads in both sexes, the maturation of gametes, and the maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics, and is one of the key messengers in the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis. Its expression level shows significant dynamic changes across different life cycles and genders in humans: it is very low in childhood;after the initiation of puberty, the secretion pulses increase and the level significantly rises; at the reproductive age, the level of FSH in females shows regular fluctuations with the menstrual cycle, forming a steep peak before ovulation to trigger ovulation, while the level in males is relatively stable. As people age, especially after women enter the perimenopausal period, due to the decline in ovarian function and the weakening of negative feedback, the pituitary gland compensatorily secretes a large amount of FSH,resulting in its level remaining persistently high. Clinically, the detection of FSH concentration in the blood is an important indicator for evaluating the reproductive capacity and reproductive endocrine function of both men and women.
Standard Curve
This product has been tested by Quality Control Department and meets performance specifications mentioned in the manual. (The humidity in the laboratory is 20%-60%, and the temperature is 18°C -25°C. TMB was balanced to 37°C before color development, and incubated at 37°C for 15 minutes in the dark after adding the enzyme label plate holes.)
The following assay data are provided for reference, since experimental environment and operation are different. The establishment of standard curve depends on your own assay.
