Gatifloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone with potent activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits both DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV with high efficiency. Gatifloxacin is utilized to study quinolone bactericidal mechanisms, resistance mutations, and safety profiles. It also assists in analyzing drug–DNA interactions.
