Kanamycin (also known as kanamycin A) is an aminoglycoside bacteriocidal antibiotic, isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces kanamyceticus, and generally used to treat a wide variety of infections.
Another important use of kanamycin is as a selective agent in molecular biology to isolate bacteria (e.g., E. coli) which have taken up genes (e.g., of plasmids) coupled to a gene coding for kanamycin resistance. Therefore, the detection of kanamycin residues in the culture medium or cell suspension is also essential in the pharmaceutical production process. Creative Diagnostics' Kanamycin ELISA Kit can detect the residual amount of kanamycin in E. coli and yeast cell culture suspensions, vaccines or other biological samples, with high sensitivity and accuracy.
