The genus Flavivirus (family Flaviviridae) comprises more than 50 arthropod-borne viruses, including dengue virus (DENV, serotypes 1-4), Zika virus (ZIKV), yellow fever virus (YFV), Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), West Nile virus (WNV), and tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV). Collectively they cause hundreds of millions of infections each year, and their expanding geographic range - illustrated by the 2015-2016 Zika public health emergency - keeps flavivirus diagnostics high on the agenda of public health laboratories and IVD manufacturers.
The non-structural protein 1 (NS1) is a conserved, secreted flavivirus glycoprotein that accumulates to high levels in patient serum during the acute phase of infection. NS1 detection (for example, dengue NS1 antigen tests) enables diagnosis from the first days of illness, before seroconversion, and NS1-based serology complements IgM/IgG assays. Because antibody cross-reactivity among flaviviruses is strong, serology assays and antigen tests must be validated against panels spanning multiple flavivirus species - a requirement that becomes critical during outbreak response, when new assays must be developed and verified quickly.
Creative Diagnostics now offers a full-series flavivirus NS1 antigen panel covering eleven flaviviruses, produced in mammalian (HEK293/CHO), insect, and E. coli expression systems, with biotinylated and Avi-tag formats for flexible assay design. The NS1 panel is complemented by envelope (E) proteins and domain III antigens, virus-like particles (VLPs), native antigens, and inactivated quality-control materials - a one-stop raw material library for serology panel validation and public health emergency response.

Dengue is the most prevalent mosquito-borne viral disease worldwide, and NS1 antigen detection is a frontline diagnostic approach during the first week of illness. We provide NS1 antigens for all four serotypes in insect-cell, mammalian-cell, and E. coli formats - including a biotinylated DENV NS1 - enabling serotype-specific and pan-serotype assay development.
ZIKV emerged as a public health emergency in 2015-2016 and remains a standing requirement for arbovirus surveillance panels. Six ZIKV NS1 formats are available - insect-cell (DAGA-038), E. coli (DAGA-046), HEK293 (DAGA-047), mammalian (DAG-WT6266), and two biotinylated versions (DAGA-448; DAG-WT6882B with hFc/Avi tags) - supporting both antigen-detection assays and serology differentiation from dengue.
YFV NS1 antigens are available from four expression systems: HEK293 (DAG-WT252; DAGA-412), CHO (DAG-WT4392), and E. coli (DAG-WT253), supporting assay development for yellow fever surveillance and vaccine-response studies.
The JEV serocomplex includes JEV, WNV, KUNV, SLEV, USUV, MVEV, and WSLV - viruses with extensive serological cross-reactivity. A complete NS1 set (JEV DAGA-491; KUNV DAG-WT3838; SLEV DAGA-3071; USUV DAG-SY1; MVEV DAG-WT7981; WSLV DAG-WT7974) allows developers to build and validate serology panels that distinguish these related viruses.
Tick-borne encephalitis virus NS1 (DAG-WT7975, HEK293) completes the panel, supporting TBEV serology development alongside our TBEV glycoprotein E portfolio (DAG1587, DAG-P2788, DAG4051, and more, >95% purity per COAs).
