F4/80 Antibody: Mouse Macrophage and Microglial Marker

Mouse EGF-like module-containing mucin-like hormone receptor-like 1 (EMR1), also known as F4/80, is a cell surface glycoprotein, a member of the EGF TM7 protein family, and 68% of human EMR1 protein amino acid consistency. The expression of F4/80 protein has been found to change significantly during the maturation and activation of macrophages. F4/80 protein is expressed in a variety of mature macrophages, such as Langerhans cells, Kupffer cells, microglial cells, and macrophages located in the peritoneum, intestinal lamina propria, splenic medulla oblongata, lungs, thymus, and bone marrow stroma.

Antibodies to detect F4/80 are useful in a variety of scientific applications, including flow cytometry (FC), immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry, immunomicroscopy, and immunoprecipitation. These antibodies target F4/80 in mouse, human, and rat samples. As the world's leading supplier of macrophage marker antibodies, Creative Diagnostics provides customers with a variety of mouse macrophage surface-specific marker antibodies in various packaging forms, which can be used in various applications such as FC, WB, IF, IHC, etc.

Advantages of Using F4/80 Antibody

There are several advantages to using the F4/80 antibody, provided by Creative Diagnostics in your research:

  • High specificity and sensitivity
The F4/80 antibody exhibits high specificity for mouse macrophages and microglial cells, ensuring accurate identification and characterization of these cell populations. Its sensitivity allows for the detection of low-abundance antigens, enabling researchers to study rare subpopulations of macrophages and microglial cells.
  • Versatility for microglial cells
Microglial cells are a specialized subset of macrophages residing in the central nervous system. The F4/80 antibody stands out among other macrophage markers due to its presence on microglia, making it an excellent tool for specifically detecting and isolating these cells in neurological research. Its unique ability to target microglia sets it apart and makes it highly valuable for studying these specialized cells in the context of neurobiology and neurodegenerative diseases. By utilizing the F4/80 antibody, researchers can effectively identify and analyze microglial populations.
  • Well-established pedigree
As a renowned company with many years of experience in the industry, we offer the F4/80 antibody with a well-established pedigree. This pedigree is a testament to the antibody's reliability, reproducibility, and consistent performance. By choosing Creative Diagnostics as your supplier, you can ensure the quality and accuracy of your research results.

Applications of F4/80 Antibody

  • IHC
IHC is a technique that enables the visualization of specific antigens in tissue sections. The F4/80 antibody, when used in IHC, allows researchers to precisely identify and locate macrophages and microglial cells within tissue samples. This information is crucial for studying the distribution and activation of these cell populations in various physiological and pathological conditions.
  • FC
Flow cytometry is a powerful method for analyzing and sorting individual cells based on their surface markers. By utilizing the F4/80 antibody in flow cytometry experiments, researchers can easily distinguish macrophages and microglial cells from other cell types in heterogeneous cell populations. This enables the isolation and further characterization of these specific cell populations, providing valuable insights into their functional properties.
  • Inflammatory studies
Macrophages and microglial cells play a crucial role in the immune response and inflammation. The F4/80 antibody serves as an essential tool in investigating the involvement of these cells in inflammatory processes. By targeting the F4/80 antigen, researchers can assess the activation state and polarization of macrophages and microglial cells in various inflammatory models. This information helps in understanding the underlying mechanisms of inflammation and developing targeted therapeutic strategies.

Choose F4/80 antibodies from Creative Diagnostics for your research needs, and unlock new insights into the fascinating world of macrophages and microglial cells. Together, we can unravel the complexities of the immune system and make significant contributions to biomedical research.
