Introduction

Borrelia burgdorferi are bacterial species of the spirochete class in the genus Borrelia, some of which cause Lyme borreliosis (also known as Lyme disease) in humans. The name Borrelia burgdorferi refers to two different concepts: B. burgdorferi sensu stricto is a specific bacterial genospecies and B. burgdorferi sensu lato is the species complex containing the etiological agents of Lyme disease. The complex currently comprises 20 accepted and 3 proposed genospecies. B. burgdorferi sensu stricto exists in North America and Eurasia and until 2016 was the only known cause of Lyme disease in North America (Borrelia mayonii, found in the midwestern US, and B. bissettiae are also known to cause the disease).

Antigen Description

Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto (N-terminus, amino acids 3 – 140). Protein is expressed with Glutathione S-Transferase in E. coli.
