Creative Diagnostics has developed a range of pre-formed amyloid beta fibrils for neurodegenerative disease research. Our mission is to be the world leader in the development and supply of active pathology-inducing protein aggregates. This will help scientists develop disease models and accelerate drug discovery in neurodegenerative diseases. These pre-formed β-amyloidogenic fibrils (1-42) can be used to model the pathogenic β-amyloid (1-42) in a variety of amyloidoses. Our product is of E. coli origin, good quality, prepared, and confirmed by thioflavin assay and electron microscopy.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common dementia form. It affects tens of millions of people worldwide and increases dramatically. The social and economic burden of Alzheimer's disease is high. Amyloid β peptide (Aβ) is produced by the proteolytic processing of transmembrane proteins, amyloid precursor protein (APP), by β and γ secretases. The accumulation of Aβ in the brain is thought to be an early toxic event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. This is the most common form of dementia associated with plaques and tangles in the brain.
As Aβ peptides are the major constituents of age-related plaques, understanding the structural and biochemical properties of Aβ will contribute to our understanding of Alzheimer's disease at the molecular level. Aβ monomers aggregate into various oligomers, which form regular protofibrills. These peptides share a common structural motif and aggregation pathway, providing a powerful conceptual framework for understanding pathogenic mechanisms and disease-specific factors. Aβ monomers form into different components, including oligomers, protofibrils, and amyloid protofibrils. Amyloid protofibrils are large and insoluble and can be further aggregated into amyloid plaques. Amyloid oligomers are soluble and spread throughout the brain.
