Sensitivity
The term I-50 is used to define the sensitivity of the test. This number is derived from a standard curve generated with the drug in EIA Buffer. The drug concentration that shows 50% less color activity than the zero standard is considered to be the I-50.
General Description
Triamcinolone Acetonide ELISA Kit is a qualitative onestep kit designed for use as a screening device for the detection of drugs and/or their metabolites. The kit was designed for screening purposes and is intended for forensic use only. It is recommended that all suspect samples be confirmed by a quantitative method such as gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

Background
Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) is a synthetic glucocorticoid-like drug with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, it is a more potent derivative of triamcinolone and is about eight times more potent than prednisone. The drug exerts its anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating the function of several cell types, including mast cells and eosinophils. In terms of pharmacokinetics, triamcinolone acetonide has a half-life of approximately 88 minutes and a clearance of 45.2 L/hour.

Triamcinolone acetonide is selected for different modes of administration depending on the therapeutic purpose. Topical application treats a variety of dermatologic conditions such as eczema and contact dermatitis, and oral administration relieves the discomfort of mouth ulcers. Intramuscular injections can treat a variety of joint conditions and relieve symptoms of various musculoskeletal disorders. Nasal spray forms can treat allergic rhinitis. Eye injections can treat eye diseases such as macular edema. Some studies have found it to be effective in IOL eyes with similar efficacy to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) drugs. In patients with age-related macular degeneration, treatment with triamcinolone acetonide was more helpful in preventing vision loss than the placebo group. Triamcinolone acetonide is also used for the treatment of hyperplastic keloids and keloid scars via intra-lesional injection, which reduces the massive synthesis of collagen and inhibits the rapid growth of keloid fibroblasts.
Triamcinolone acetonide side effects are related to the route of administration, dosage, and duration of use. Common side effects of injectable types include gastrointestinal discomfort, muscle pain, and blurred vision, while common side effects of topical types of drugs are local irritation and allergic reactions, and intraocular injection administration may result in increased intraocular pressure. In addition, triamcinolone acetonide may cause endocrine disorders, such as irregular menstruation, with prolonged use. Triamcinolone acetonide may also have a number of potential corticosteroid side effects, including immunosuppression, osteoporosis, and others.
