General Notes
This product (Catalog No. CABT-BL2796) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human OR1J4. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. OR1J4 is a protein-coding gene in humans that encodes the olfactory receptor 1J4, a G protein-coupled receptor responsible for detecting specific odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate smell perception. Located on the forward strand of chromosome 9 at position 122,519,141-122,520,082, the gene consists of a single transcript and is part of the large olfactory receptor family, which comprises over 400 members in the human genome. The encoded protein features seven transmembrane domains typical of olfactory receptors and interacts with odorants to trigger neuronal signaling via G proteins, contributing to the olfactory signaling pathway. Expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium, OR1J4 has orthologs in other mammals, such as the mouse gene Or1j4, indicating evolutionary conservation in odor detection mechanisms. While specific ligands for OR1J4 remain under investigation, its role underscores the diversity of the olfactory system in distinguishing thousands of scents.
CABT-BL2796 is suitable for use in WB 1 (500-1:2000), IHC 1 (50-1:200) applications.
CABT-BL2796 is supplied as a liquid formulation in Phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
