Introduction
Borrelia burgdorferi is a spir Chete, the causitive agent of the tick borne zoonotic disease Borreliosis or Lyme disease. The organism was first isolated in 1982 by Willy Burgdorfer after whom the organism was named. B. burgdorferi is the principal cause of Lyme disease in the U. S while B. afzelii and B. garinii are found as causitive agents in Europe.
