Homovanillic Acid, BSA-conjugated, synthetic
Homovanillic Acid, BSA-conjugated
Homovanillic Acid (hydroxyvanillic) conjugated with bovine serum albumin (BSA)
1.5 urea/25 mM tris-HCl pH 8.0/0.2% triton-X/50% glycerol
2-8°C short term, -20°C long term
Homovanillic acid is a major metabolite of catecholamine (noradrenaline, adrenaline and dopamine) metabolism and a high proportion of patients with neuroblastoma and phaeochromoctoma excrete increased amounts of it in their urine. Plasma levels of homovanillic acid (pHVA) have been suggested to provide a measure of dopaminergic activity in the central nervous system.
