General Notes
This product (Catalog No. DPABH-22189) is a rabbit-derived polyclonal antibody raised against human SMYD4. This antibody exhibits cross-reactivity with SMYD4 from mouse and rat. It has been affinity purified by Protein A. SMYD4, or SET and MYND domain-containing protein 4, is a gene that encodes a lysine methyltransferase enzyme functioning as a key epigenetic regulator of gene expression, primarily through histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) methylation and interaction with histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) to modulate transcription during cardiac and muscle development. Located on human chromosome 17p13.3, the SMYD4 protein features a characteristic split SET domain interrupted by a MYND zinc-finger domain, along with cysteine-rich post-SET and tetratricopeptide repeat motifs that facilitate its methyltransferase activity and protein interactions. Expressed in mesodermal tissues, somatic musculature, and the developing heart across species like Drosophila, zebrafish, and mammals, SMYD4 localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm, where it represses gene transcription by partnering with class I HDACs via its MYND domain.
DPABH-22189 is suitable for use in Western blot (WB) (1:500–1:2,000), IHC (1:50–1:200), IF (immunofluorescence) (1:50–1:100) applications.
DPABH-22189 is supplied as a liquid formulation in PBS (without Mg2+ and Ca2+), pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. For long-term storage, keep at −20 °C. For short-term use, store at 2–8 °C. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain antibody integrity and performance.
